Signs
The ’signs’ I am referencing are not the subtle messages sent by the mystic universe that are directing you one way or the other. I am referring to actual, physical, concrete signs that are POSTED just about everywhere you look. Generally, signs are defined as something that gives information. This information can be taken as a directive, warning or simply a suggestion. I have noticed over the years that more signs are being posted and they have increasingly become a reflection of the state of our society. I would imagine, and send in a comment if you were around during this time, that in the 20’s you might have had a sign that read, “Gangster-Free Zone” or “ALCOHOL PROHIBITED” which really meant that the nearest speakeasie filled with gangsters was to your left, under the bridge, and at the end of the dark alley. Perhaps there was a sign advertising the popular Model T Car. Some of the signs I have seen over the years offer a small amount of enlightenment, if you are looking for that kind of thing, about where we are and where we are clearly headed. For example:

We live in an era where there are signs posted everywhere from the highway to the inside of bathroom stalls. They tell us where and when to park, enter, exit, turnaround, and when you’re about to encounter loose gravel. It’s amazing that with all the signs we encounter every day, and all the rules we are suppose to follow, there is any time for an original thought. But I often wonder if there were time to create an original sign, what would that be? Perhaps it would be my own version of a Peace Flag or a dog laying under a tree or a wave unraveling toward shore. Or, I could borrow the already existing road sign with wavy lines indicating a road full of twists and turns. It’s hard to say because so many things happen in a day and our lives shift from one moment to another. But if the universe spun around just enough to create a pocket full of creative energy for you, what kind of sign would you be?
