Change as a Constant

“If you can face and understand your ultimate death, perhaps you can learn to face and deal productively with each change  that presents itself in your life.” Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

Even though I have lived my life and teach others to embrace change as a constant, I am sitting here at my computer taking deep breaths, centering myself, and facing my fear of writing this blog.  Yes, I am looking at my own change because I have never revealed myself in this way before.  This experience is taking me outside my comfort zone and stretching me spiritually because I usually work with people one on one or in small groups. In embracing this opportunity to transform, I am lovingly coaching myself to open my heart, lean into my fear, and just write what comes through me.

Crossing a threshold into brand new territory unleashes our deepest fears and insecurities.  For me, it is an opportunity to release any identity structure, let down my guard, and reveal my truest self.  Too often we brace ourselves against change, instead of embracing change in our lives as an opportunity for personal transformation. We become attached to people, things and circumstances and are reluctant to let go of them even when they no longer are appropriate to our being at this time. As a result, we feel stuck, lifeless and uninspired. When we ignore, avoid, or resist any change, we actually generate more energy around our insecurities, drawing to us what we fear most and often suffer needlessly. Playing victim to our life’s circumstances, we close off our hearts and inhibit the flow of energy that can heal our insecurities and create what we want in our lives. When we open and listen to our hearts, we can lean into our fears, take responsibility for our life, and choose to live beyond pain and suffering to a more enlightened perspective on life. Change give us the power to do this.

When we attempt to stop change, we block the flow of creative energy that we need to transform our lives. Here are a few positive affirmations which can assist in sustaining this flow of energy and allowing change to be a catalyst for personal and spiritual growth: “Lean into the fear; Take a step; Make a choice; or Move forward.”  See yourself moving forward, using change to catapult you into your new life and making better choices for your future.

Embrace change as constant and use it to transform your life.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I feel energized just reading it.
Embracing change with my heart as my compass is so inspiring. Not something esoteric but as you say for each of us every moment and every day. It’s funny as I read what you wrote about being nervous about writing your first blog. I know that place in so many ways that have nothing to do with blogs but about all the other “news” in my life. I can see when I am tagged into those fears, I am mostly centered in my brain rather than in my heart. Just imagining all those things that could or might happen. How silly when my heart leads me forward to be my best.

We live in such a great place for changes. It’s happening all around us constantly and within us. Your post reminds me and inspires me to look change in the eye rather than looking away. To consciously create.

You being more you. How could I not be inspired by that? Thank you for taking that step and opening my eyes and heart.
